Just Dreaming surf guide John Olsen reporting.

I just got off my first trip after a bit of time off the vessel and didn't realise how much I missed the Island. We surfed Napalms and Illusions everyday for the first five days of the trip. Conditions were perfect for the majority of waves around the area with tides and winds all working in our favour. Five frothers from the central coast of Oz were the punters and they were averaging about 8+ hrs in the water each day for the first half of the trip. One special highlight of mine was from one of the boys Borgy, he pulled through the back of a wave at Napalms, went over and snapped his board. He was filthy on himself and looking for redemption, which didn't take him long to find while not long after paddling back out scored the wave of the trip, long hollow tube all the way through kicking out, hands in the air, stoked, job done. Illusions was as fun as always long reeling smackable walls and even throwing out the odd keg or two. Playing 2up on the boat on Anzac day was a cracker, since we had no cash out there whoever lost had to shotgun a can of Anker for fun times. Also snagged a few fish including a Barracuda, Job Fish and Trevally which our chef Danna whipped up one of his all time fish curries.

Cheers John.

Just Dreaming was lucky enough to have my good friend Timmy from Aloha Manly sailing with 5 of his crazy mates and celebrating his 50th birthday. From the first day we got straight into glassy Illusions just the 6 of them and the heat was on, the froth was high, with Dayan showing everyone why he was on the pro tour for 5 years. That didn't stop him getting all the waves as the Panaitan law of taking turns prevailed and all the boys were all shredding.

Well it didn't take long before they wanted a taste of one of our jewels in Apocalypse. The conditions weren't perfect but some epic stand up tubes went down with Timmy charging for the boys. Followed by more Illusions with perfect off shore. As always everyone was addicted to Illusions but when I finally talked them into coming and surfing Indicators another hell sesh went down. Every surf we had we all just about lost our voices for all the yelling and screaming there was some serious frothing go down and the Manly guys were absolutely loving surfing with no one else in the water.

At night there was cold beers and loads of laughs especially when the playing poker and the poker king Dayan was the first one out with Dan taking the big prize.

This trip was between swells but they still managed to get the first 4 days of waves between 3-6 ft remainder of the trip not getting below 3 ft. As always we smashed some good fish and the Manly boys were loving surfing perfect waves on there own with birthday boy Timmy getting the frother of the trip award and the snake award much to his disbelief and getting the most waves with Dan not far behind who if wasn't surfing was diving always up for any adventure.
The boys were an absolute pleasure to have on board making my job super easy. Thank you Timmy, Dayan, Dan, Daz, Awa, & Hox. Thank you so much for supporting my team.

Brown bread? Lemon spread? Nooooooo Evans Head!!!! Thats where these bunch of froth heads come from! We arrived to a small but fun swell with enjoyable waves at Teds and Pussies for the first couple of days and with swell on the forecast and adventure on the boys minds we fired up the “Sweet Dream” (our fast boat with two 90 HP engines on the back) and spent the day climbing Krakatau, which is an active volcano located in the middle of the Sunda Strait. You definitely have one of those “how small we really are” moments when climbing it and a pretty good view from above also. Once we were back we waited for the swell and as the swell came so did the storms. The more we got pounded by rain and wind at night we got pounded by swell the next day. Illusions started to crank. 6ft and reeling down the reef. I've kept in touch with young Evans Head ripper Kell Reese and he told me he still cant wipe the smile of his face after he and his brother Tom had the whole break all to themselves for an arvo taking off on some serious bombs, not holding back, pulling in to tubes and ripping wave after wave down the point. You couldn't wipe the smile off their old mans face either, Ronnie was proud as punch. After a few tins back onboard Just Dreaming, the boys were saying that this is what surfing is all about, just surfing with your family and friends, sharing waves together with no hassling.

Cheers for the great trip boys.

John.
