Just Dreaming Surf Charters - Panaitan Island, West Java

The 2018 season is just about here...

Just DreamingComment

So it has been one very wet, proper, rainy season here in Indonesia. Good news we think as everyone is now talking up a proper season of waves to come as peak season approaches.

Even during the rainy off season, the Just Dreaming crew has been busy. The big boat was dry docked and put through her regular yearly maintenance clean up. We also took the opportunity to take the fast boat Sweet Dream out of the water and give her a once over. She's looking real sweet now with new fiberglass, paint and tuned up twin 90Hp Suzukis.

The first charter of the 2018 season is due out over Easter and it’s a busy start to the year with 3 back to back charters hoping to score some early season, light wind action. For anybody wanting to get in on the action, check out the booking calendar on the website and drop us an email at info@justdreaming.surf

Indonesia has been pumping over the last 2 weeks and of course our little slice of paradise was in on the action. Three nice swells in the space of 10 days poured into the island making it a really consistent trip with the boys clocking up plenty of time in the water, a few lads were averaging 6-8 hrs a day. We were straight into it on the very first day with the first swell for the trip peaking that morning, no time for easing your way into it and the legends from South Africa took it all in their stride jumping straight over board and racing for the line up. There was a couple of afternoons with not a drop of water out of place, the boys were lapping it up getting barrelled pretty much every wave then hooting one of their mates into the barrel on the next one. Late one afternoon we seen an unbelievable barrel get made at the point, as the wave wrapped around the point we all thought Kimbo was about to be obliviated as he was super deep, he pulled up into a 6’+ seriously long slabbing keg, the wave sucked him back and up over the foamball set his line and continued to get barrelled all the way down the point. The crew were gob smacked, we ended up partying that night, getting stuck into the duty free and having a hell time, pretty sure we wouldn’t of got as loose as we did if we had not of witnessed that wave. Was such a good vibe on the boat the entire time, with a good bunch of boys and pumping waves you can't possibly not have the time of ya life!

Just Dreaming sponsored the first prize for Ulladulla Boardriders for free trip for the most consistent surfer throughout the year and Petey the Pirate Miers winning, so we were lucky enough to also have aboard some Ulladulla father and sons with a few more Ulladulla scallywags tagging along. First surf saw the eager beavers jumping straight into bumpy Napalms while few opted for a slower start with nice 3-4 long easy lefts and of course not a soul around.

Before the trip Parso was silly enough to make a bet with me saying all he wants is a clean dry stand up barrel or his money back well that was the easiest bet I ever made with a wind change the bet was over after lunch on the first day.

With one of our favourites throwing down barrels for everyone all afternoon with winds swinging. We traveled and surfed a few of our secret spots with the everyone including the Don on the Betta truly getting introduced the Just Dreaming way of how surfing used to be, just hooting and hollering with only your friends around. Another swing in the wind and the boys wanted to go right so we jumped in the fast boat and rights is what they got with 3-5 ft Indies and 3 of them even sneaked down to Illusions which as always blew their minds. At night Geoff Hanson sponsored the the nightly prize giving ceremonies from best barrels to best fish.

This was the first trip of the year when we got 2 days out at the Palm and believe me it didn't disappoint as always blowing everyone's minds even the most seasoned surfer Mr Parsons. As always on Just Dreaming surfing with no one else around, something the boys adjusted to pretty fast after fighting with crowds in the Ments for the last few years and enjoyed taking turns in old school fashion. Yep each day didn't disappoint loosing track of barrels and turns even wearing out the fittest young grooms Ido and Zane with the Don having a session with just him and captain Manto surfing 3-4 ft perfect lefts, his first surf after double knee replacement well done Don.

I'd like to thank pirate Pete, Geoff, Geoff Parso, Ido, the Don, Zane and Mr nice guy Wild Bill for one of the funniest trips and of course a shit load of waves.

Thanks so much for your support - the crew of Just Dreaming Surf Charters
